SEARCH - The Health Sciences Library provides access to the following e-resources (online full text databases, online journals of various publishers, e-books, etc.)

 

1.     AccessMedicine:

AccessMedicine from McGraw-Hill Medical is a comprehensive online medical resource that provides a complete spectrum of knowledge from the best minds in medicine, with essential information. AccessMedicine from McGraw-Hill is an innovative online resource that provides students, residents, clinicians, researchers and all health professionals with access to more than 124 leading medical titles (books) from the best minds in medicine, updates, thousands of images and illustrations, Q&A, interactive self-assessment, case files, diagnostic tools, a comprehensive search platform and the ability to download content to a mobile device.

 

2.     AcessPediatrics:

AccessPediatrics from McGraw-Hill Medical covers the entire span of pediatric practice, from neonatology through adolescent medicine. Updated regularly and optimized for viewing on any device, this comprehensive online pediatric resource provides instant access to information essential for completing evaluation, diagnosis, and case management decisions, as well as for pursuing research or self-assessment and board review - all in one place. AccessPediatrics can help medical students to excel in their clerkship through use of use videos, cases, and Q&A; assist residents with leading pediatric textbooks and vignette style exam prep that will establish an important foundation for future practice, and allow practicing pediatricians to quickly search for relevant clinical information.

 

3.     Bates' Visual Guide to Physical Examination:

Bates' Visual Guide to Physical Examination is Lippincott's online platform for the delivery of more than 8 hours of video content that provides head-to-toe and systems-based physical examination techniques for the advanced assessment or introduction to Clinical Medicine course, or for practitioners requiring a review of the History & Physical.

 

4.     BMJ Best Practice:

BMJ Best Practice is an evidence-based generalist point of care tool, uniquely structured around the patient consultation with advice on symptom evaluation, test ordering and treatment approach.

 

5.     BMJ Learning:

BMJ Learning offers high-quality continuing medical education for doctors and other healthcare professionals. It features hundreds of accredited, peer-reviewed learning modules in text, video, and audio formats.

 

6.     BMJ OnExamination:

BMJ OnExamination for MBBS students is an online platform which helps students to revise their learning. It will help students to reinforce their learnings, gain knowledge and examination skills.

 

7. CINAHL Ultimate:

CINAHL Ultimate is the new definitive resource for nursing and allied health research, providing full text for more of the most used journals in the CINAHL index than any other database. It covers more than 50 nursing specialties and includes quick lessons, evidence-based care sheets, CEU modules and research instruments. More than 5,600 journals indexed covering nursing and allied health. Also includes other ancillary subject areas that support nursing and allied practice (e.g., biomedicine, health services administration, public health, etc.).

 8.  ClinicalKey:

ClinicalKey is a clinical reference solution that supports clinical education and clinical decisions by making it easier to access and apply relevant knowledge.     10.   Cochrane Library :

    The Cochrane Library is a collection of databases (Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials - CENTRAL and Cochrane Clinical Answers) that contain high-quality, independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. The Cochrane Library is owned by Cochrane and published by Wiley.

    11.   Dynamic Health CDS & Skills :

    Dynamic Health CDS+Skills is an innovative evidence-based resource that helps nurses and allied health professionals master critical skills. Users can find current, actionable information about core nursing competencies, transcultural care, patient training, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nutrition and dietetics, social work and so much more.

    12.   EBSCO Dental Collection (Dentistry & Oral Sciences Source):

    Dentistry & Oral Science Source is the definitive full-text research database for dental practitioners and researchers. It offers top dental and oral sciences journals commonly purchased by dental schools and related institutions. Subjects include dental public health, endodontics, odontology, orthodontology, periodontology and prosthodontics. Get access to top journals like the Journal of Dental Research, all the Quintessence journals, etc.

    13.   Embase :

    Embase is a highly versatile, multi-purpose and up-to-date biomedical database. It covers the most important international biomedical literature from 1947 to the present day and all articles are indexed in depth using Elsevier's Life Science thesaurus Embase Indexing and Emtree®. It is also useful in conducting systematic reviews.

    Incision Academy is a surgical education platform for sharing surgical skills and knowledge using standardization and a systematic approach. Incision Academy provides access to a wide range of courses of procedures, filmed in 3D from the surgeon's point of view.

     15.   Journal Citation Reports (JCR):

    Journal Citation Reports(R) is a comprehensive and unique resource that allows evaluating and comparing journals using citation data drawn from over 12856 scholarly and technical journals from more than 3,300 publishers in over 83 countries. It is the only source of citation data on journals, and includes virtually all areas of science, technology, and social sciences. Journal Citation Reports can show the:

    Lippincott Advisor provides immediate access to the information nurses need most. The industry’s leading clinician-based online resource is designed for the point-of-care environment, and can provide the most current evidence-based information needed to practice with confidence.

    17.  Lippincott Procedure:

    Lippincott Procedures, web-based, go-to source for step-by-step clinical guidance, has over 2,200 procedures and skills from a wide variety of nursing specialties including medical-surgical, critical care, obstetric, pediatric, neonatal, ambulatory care, pediatric intensive care, perioperative, oncology, behavioral health, and long-term care. In addition, it also includes allied health procedures for respiratory therapy and physical therapy.

    18.  MedOne ComSci:

    MedOne ComSci is an electronic reslurce for undergraduate and graduate students in communication science, speech pathology and audiology as well as professionals practicing in those deciplines. Content is accessible by a simple but powerful searching tool, or simply by browsing.

    The world's leading bibliographic source for biomedical scholary literature and research - with easy linking to full-text journals. Updated daily, MEDLINE on the Ovid platform offers novice and expert searchers seamless and up-to-the-minute access to over 23 million of the latest bibliographic citations and author abstracts from more than 5,600 biomedicine and life sciences journals in nearly 40 languages (60 languages for older journals). English abstracts are included in more than 80% of the records.

    Users in academic libraries can find definitive research information in ProQuest Health and Medical Complete. The database has over 3786 journals. The database includes all charts, diagrams, graphs, tables, photos and other graphical elements essential to medical research. The journals cover all major clinical and healthcare disciplines including cardiovascular diseases, pediatrics, neurology, respiratory diseases, dentistry, anesthesiology and others.     22.  ProQuest Nursing and Allied Health Database:

    ProQuest Nursing and Allied Health Database provides users with reliable healthcare information covering nursing, allied health professions, alternative and complementary medicine, and much more. This versatile database is designed to meet the needs of nursing and allied health programs at academic institutions. ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Database provides thousands of journal titles in full-text, plus dissertations and other grey literature representing rigorous scholarship in nursing and related fields.

    23.  ProQuest Library Science Database:

    Library Science Database gives users full-text access to a selection of publications relevant to library and information science. It covers a range of titles and topics relevant to the theoretical and applied study of library science, including trade publications aimed at the library profession as well as scholarly journals.

    24.  ProQuest Psychology Database:

    This database provides abstracts and indexing for key Psychology titles, many which are available in full text. Many titles are indexed in PsycINFO. Coverage ranges from behavioral, clinical, cognitive, developmental, experimental, industrial and social psychology, along with personality, psychobiology and psychometrics.

    25.  ProQuest Public Health Database:

    ProQuest Public Health is a new and unique database; designed to be the ideal starting point for public health information and research. It delivers core public health literature with centralized access to over 800 publications with over 500 in full-text.

    SpringerLink providing access to millions of scientific documents from journals, books, series, protocols and reference works.  It is a comprehensive online collection of medical journals, books and reference works.  Health Sciences Library has access to 743 journals and 21,780+ books via SpringerLink.

    30.  Springer Nature Experiments:

    Experiments is a new research solution developed by Springer Nature to connect researchers with the most relevant and important protocols and methods to support their research projects. Springer Nature bringing together the largest available collection of protocols and methods proven to create results, with content from: Nature Methods, Nature Protocols, Springer Protocols and Protocols Exchange.


    31.  STATdx:

    A comprehensive and trusted diagnostic support tool for radiologists. Highly intuitive and easy to use, STATdx features:

    Web of Science(TM) provides researchers, administrators, faculty and students with quick, powerful access to the world's leading citation databases. Authoritative, multidisciplinary content covers over 21,000 of the highest impact journals worldwide, including Open Access journals and over 205,000 conference proceedings. Current and retrospective coverage in the sciences, social sciences, arts and humanities, with coverage to 1900 is available.

     

    34.  Online Journal of Various Publishers:

    Library is providing access to more than 1000+ online journals of various publishers, such as BMJ, Cambridge, Elsevier, Karger, Medknow, Nature, Oxford, Sage, Springer, Taylor and Francis, Theime, Wiley, etc.   

    Users could access all above online databases/online journals through the desktop computers provided in the internet kiosks/computer lab of the library (Level I to Level IV) or any computer on the campus through library web site https://libportal.manipal.edu/KMC/index.asp  or through ERMSS http://172.16.18.99:8080/ermss_kmc/. Users can browse more than 3000 online journals in intranet environment.

    The micro site of the library acts as a single window providing information and links to all its resources and services.  All digital resources were brought together and grouped under seven broad categories i.e. library access, online databases/e-journals, e-books, bibliographic databases, important links, other links and search engines for smooth navigation.

    ERMSS (e-Resources Management and Search Solution) Software

    ERMSS (e-Resources Management and Search Solutions) ) is a customized e-resources management and search solution to manage and provide search on subscribed titles of e-resources (e-journals, e-books and online databases) of the Health Sciences Library, MAHE, Manipal. It can perform search on titles of e-resources (e-journals, e-books and online databases) integrated with the solutions which provides integrated and mapped results from e-resources.

    ERMSS is an effective management and search tool for the information seekers like faculty members, researchers and students. One can access one or all the e-resources (e-journals, e-books and online databases) in the same interface by using various search parameters. They can easily view, access and search within all the e-resources with the same interface. ERMSS could be accessed through Library web page http://libportal/KMC/index.asp  or directly through http://172.16.18.99:8080/ermss_kmc/

    EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) - Single Window Search @ Health Sciences Library

    The Library has provided ‘Single Window Search’ tool to meet the health sciences library users’ requirement in accessing e-resources and same could be accessed in intranet environment anywhere in MAHE Campus at Manipal through the Health Sciences Library website i.e. http://libportal/KMC/index.asp. Single Window Searching tool can search across library’s all subscribed e-resources the way the Google does. ‘Single window search’ tool (Developed by EBSCO) is a new, significant and innovative system to find relevant/required information across all library subscribed e-resources along with open access resources and MAHE Digital Repository using the single search box.

    Following are the important features of Single Window Search tool implemented at Health Sciences Library:

    • Accessing all library e-resources through a single search.
    • A-Z listing of all e-resources (journals and books) subscribed by the Health Sciences Library.
    • Basic, advanced, limiters, Booleans, expanders, proximity, wildcard, truncation symbols, single Vs. plural, and discipline limited searching facilities.
    • Basic search could be restricted to keyword, title and author.
    • Advanced search could be restricted to all text, author, title, subject terms, journal/book title/source, abstract, ISSN and ISBN.
    • ‘Limit To’ option could be used to library subscribed collection, MAHE Digital Repository and open access, full text, peer reviewed. Further ‘limit to’ option can be applied to year, source.


    OpenAthens (SSO - Single Sign-on) - Remote Access to Subscribed e-Resources   

    Access to the subscribed e-resources of KMC Health Sciences Library, MAHE, Manipal remotely is available to all the users (students, researchers and faculty members) of Health Sciences Institutions of MAHE at Manipal campus through OpenAthens account. OpenAthens account is configured with the users' office 365 Outlook email account (manipal.edu/learner.manipal.edu). The eligible/authorized users’ authentication have been done through Office 365 (manipal.edu/ learner.manipal.edu) via OpenAthens.

    OpenAthens - Single Sign-on (SSO) is enable the users of the library to access all the subscribed e-resources (online databases, online journal and e-books etc.) remotely (using their office 365 - learner.manipal.edu/manipal.edu login credentials). User could also access full-text of the subscribed e-resources through the respective publishers’ website as OpenAthens user name and password permits the access - Single Sign-on. Also providing users with access to many different systems through a single set of login details.

     

    How to Access SEARCH - The KMC Health Sciences Library Web Portal Remotely Via OpenAthens ?

    Step-1: Clicking the link https://go.openathens.net/redirector/manipal.edu?url=https%3A%2F%2Flibportal.manipal.edu%2FKMC%2Findex.asp

     

    Step-2: Signing in using Office 365 (manipal.edu/learner.manipal.edu) login credentials to access library web portal which users are already having with them. Users with @manipal.edu or @learner.manipal.edu email address must use the first sign-in option : MAHE University Microsoft Azure.



    Step-3: As soon as 2nd step is completed, SEARCH - The KMC Health Science Library web portal will be displayed and then e-resources could be accessed through the same.
