Introduction

Located at Manipal Institute of Communication, MAHE’s General Library is a treasure trove of exciting books for every book lover out there. It is a place to immerse yourself in the world of pure, uninterrupted reading, learning, reflection, and exploration.

The General Library was established in 2007 at the behest of MIC’s founding director, Dr. M.V. Kamath. It is stocked with fiction and nonfiction books on every topic including children's literature, comics, science and technology, self-help, mysteries, mythology, art, culture, history, philosophy, classic novels, education, poetry, biographies, Indology, religion, spirituality, among others in English, Kannada and a few other regional languages. The collection also includes books donated by generous patrons from MAHE and beyond.

Having been serving MAHE’s staff and their children for the past 15 years, the General Library has now added a vast number of new titles to its existing collection of books. So, drop in for a visit and experience the joys of simple, pleasurable reading.

Highlights:

  • The MAHE General Library is available to all members of the MAHE fraternity and their families.
  • The library does not charge a fee to join as a member.
  • The MAHE-issued identification card will be used to borrow books. There is a 15-day grace period for returning borrowed books.
  • The library is kept open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM, on all working days except MAHE Holidays/Sundays.
  •  The general library's collection is entirely digitized and may be accessed across the university’s network via OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue).
  •  For security purposes, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) is provided at the library.
  • The personnel who work at the library are well trained to assist you with your book preferences.
